Tobias Funke

Tobias Funke is one of the top star chefs in Switzerland – as well as one of the youngest (he was born in 1982). Nevertheless, he has already gained plenty of experience: this includes managing the Funkes Obstgarten restaurant in Freienbach (Canton Schwyz) and cooking at Petermanns Kunststuben in Küsnacht (Canton Zurich), among others. He was named the youngest Gault Millau newcomer in 2011 and awarded 16 Gault Millau points and two Michelin star.

Tobias Funke has high standards when it comes to the products he uses. That’s why he works very closely with farmers, vegetable and fruit growers, cheese makers and meat producers. He also combines tradition with innovation to produce what he likes to call Swiss Alpine food. By the way, he’s no stranger to tradition. Tobias Funke has conducted extensive library research on a quest to discover and compile a collection of old traditional Swiss recipes.
